The bicipital reflex, also known as the biceps reflex, is a deep tendon reflex test that assesses the function of the C5 and C6 nerve roots in the cervical spine. The test is performed by striking the biceps tendon in the antecubital fossa of the arm while the elbow is flexed, which results in a contraction of the biceps muscle and an observable movement of the forearm. An absent or diminished reflex may indicate nerve root damage or other neurological conditions.
