◼ Sigla em inglês FcRn (neonatal Fc receptor)
Significado
Um dos principais responsáveis em recrutar células efetoras, tais como macrófagos e monócitos, que inibem indiretamente o crescimento de formas sanguíneas assexuadas de plasmódios. (www.usp.br/siicusp/Resu...)
Meaning
The neonatal Fc receptor is a protein that in humans is encoded by the FCGRT gene. The neonatal Fc receptor is an Fc receptor which is similar in structure to MHC class I. It was first discovered in rodents as a unique receptor capable of transporting IgG from mother's milk across the endothelium of newborn rodent's gut. Further studies revealed a similar receptor in humans. In humans, however, it is found in the placenta to help facilitate transport of mother's IgG to the growing fetus and it has also been shown to play a role in monitoring IgG turnover. Also, the Fc fragment contains a sequence participating in the binding to the neonatal Fc receptor (FcRn), which plays a role in regulating serum IgG levels by increasing the transport of maternal IgG to neonates and the half-life of the IgG (Ghetie and Ward, Immunology Today 18: 592,598, 19,7), and the sequence regulates the interaction between protein A and protein G.
