Tipo de protease (enzima) responsável pela destruição da matriz saudável dos tecidos e órgãos humanos.
A member of a group of enzymes that can break down proteins, such as collagen, that are normally found in the spaces between cells in tissues (i.e., extracellular matrix proteins). Because these enzymes need zinc or calcium atoms to work properly, they are called metalloproteinases. Matrix metalloproteinases are involved in wound healing, angiogenesis, and tumor cell metastasis.
In addition, the inventive compositions downregulates the expression of NF-KB-regulated gene products involved in anti-apoptosis, including inhibitor-of-apoptosis protein 1,2, Bcl-2, Bcl-xL, FADD like interleukin-l(3 converting enzyme (FLICE)/caspase-8 inhibitory protein, TNF I receptor-associated factor 1, and survivin, and further downregulates the expression of gene products involved in angiogenesis, including vascular endothelial growth factor, cyclooxygenase-2, intercellular adhesion molecule, and matrix metalloproteinase.
Além disso, as composições inventivas promovem a infra-regulação da expressão de produtos gênicos regulados por NF-KB envolvidos na antiapoptose, inclusive o inibidor da proteína da apoptose ½, Bcl-2, Bcl-xL, enzima de conversão da interleucina- tipo FADD (FLICE)/proteína inibitória de caspase-8, fator associado ao receptor de TNF 1, e survivina, e adicionalmente promovem a infra-regulação da expressão de produtos gênicos envolvidos na angiogênese, inclusive do fator de crescimento endotelial vascular, ciclooxigenase-2, molécula de adesão intercelular e metaloproteinase de matriz.
