An international digital television standard that is the European and Far Eastern counterpart of ATSC (North American standard). Broadcast over the air (terrestrial), via satellite or cable, DVB transmits in a 6 to 8MHz channel and uses MPEG-2 video compression and Dolby Digital and MPEG audio compression.
