Nomegestrol acetate is a synthetic progestin primarily used in combination with 17ß-estradiol for hormonal contraception, available in oral contraceptive pills and transdermal contraceptive patches. It acts by thickening cervical mucus and affecting the uterine lining to prevent pregnancy. Additionally, nomegestrol acetate may be used in hormone replacement therapy for postmenopausal women.
